Just off the main East Finchley High Street up Church Lane is a friendly, family run Italian café come restaurant called La Rugoletta. Serving up fresh Italian staples from pizzas and pasta to incredible cakes and pastries, La Rugoletta is a lovely slice of Italian life right in the middle of central London.

Always warm and inviting, La Rugoletta is a family run affair – the décor is simple and unfussy, the walls adorned with work by local artists giving it a nice community feel. Super affordable and convenient La Rugoletta is brilliant for a casual lunch or supper – their bruchetta, pizza and salad also make a healthy take-away alternative to the usual predictable packed lunch.

However… the best kept secret by far is the incredibly delicious ‘Torta della Nonna’ (or Grandmas pie). One of my most favourite indulgences, this lemon and pine nut tart is a real taste sensation and always tempts me back to this lovely local spot.
